The Blessing of Brokenness
Psalm 51:17...The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. (KJV)
Brokenness- broken apart, shattered, rendered
Contrite- repentant, remorseful
In the natural, anything broken is deemed unusable, not wanted. If we order something through the mail and it arrives broken, to us it would be a waste of money and the time spent waiting for it to arrive. But thankfully, God is the Healer of brokenness!
Spiritually speaking, brokenness in God’s eyes is beautiful. When we overlay brokenness with the Gospel, we see how God uses brokenness to bring beauty.
Whenever we go through a dark season of life, whether it is financial loss, death of a loved one, rebellion in a once obedient child, sickness etc…these can break us to the point that we get to the end of ourselves and the strength we have in ourselves. What these situations should cause us to do is to see that outside of Christ we can do nothing. Because in ourselves we break, we are not strong. God is the Potter and we are the clay, He wants to take and mold us into a vessel that brings Him glory. ( Isaiah 64:8) KJV.
God allows these dark seasons to draw us, as His children, closer to Him and deeper in our walk of faith, so we can get to the place that we raise our hands in praise to God Who is Sovereign over all. In the unsaved, these times are to show them how much they need Christ as Saviour over their lives. No where else should we desire to be, than in the hands of the Potter.
In Christ,
